About me

Hi, I am Xueli Pan, a last-year PhD candidate in the User Centric Data Science Group at VU Amsterdam.

My research focuses on knowledge graphs, semantic web technologies, and their applications in various domains, including health, nutrition, and mental health. My work integrates AI techniques, such as Large Language Models (LLMs) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), with cutting-edge knowledge representation methods to tackle complex questions in scholarly contexts. I aim to improve scientific discovery by integrating advanced NLP techniques with semantic web technologies.

I am currently looking for opportunities as an AI Engineer or Applied AI Researcher, especially roles involving LLM applications, RAG, semantic search, knowledge graphs, and end-to-end machine learning systems. You can find my CV here.

Outside my research, I also build small tools that help me learn and explore. One recent project is Dutch Learner, a KNM learning website I created to support my own Dutch learning journey and preparation for the Kennis van de Nederlandse Maatschappij exam.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time in nature, traveling, cooking, and watching stand-up comedy.
